Road Trip: Giant Animatronic Insect Exhibit in New Hampshire

If you've ever wanted to know what it might be like to live out a scene from "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids" in real life, there's a science center in New Hampshire that wants to make your dreams come true. The Squam Lakes Natural Science Center has made some very noticeable additions to their nature trail in the form of large, animatronic insects that the entire family can interact with.

Shared on Facebook by Squam Lakes Natural Science Center, the large-scale insect exhibits can be discovered throughout their live animal trail. Some of the insects have truly been brought to life with movements that should excite and amaze children. That includes the pesky bombardier beetle that occasionally enjoys "spraying" guests. There's also a spicebush swallowtail caterpillar that is large enough for several kids to climb on and take a keepsake photo.

No. The live animal trail sprawls throughout the natural science center and includes several incredible animal exhibits. Some of the animals that are featured include river otters, bobcats, mountain lions, and black bears. There's also lush meadows and marshy boardwalks to explore along the way for a full day of adventure and discovery.

The live animal exhibit trail with animatronic insects is open daily through September 30 from 9:30am to 5pm. Because the trail is extensive, admission must be paid and you must be actively on the trail by 3:30pm. Adult tickets are $22 per person, children ages 3-15 are $16, and children 2 and under are admitted for free.
